SEAQ is the Stock Exchange Automated Quotations system.
This screen-based trading system for UK securities was introduced on October 27 1986 as part of the city's Big Bang.
SEAQ carries the market makers ' bids and offers for UK securities.
In other words SEAQ is a continuously updated computer database containing price quotations and trade reports in UK securities.
SEAQ has a brother more global in outlook. He's called SEAQ International - this is the London Stock Exchange 's electronic price quotation system for non-UK equities.
SEAQ International forms the basis for the London market in international securities. It has been a major success story, helping to establish London as the world's leading centre for international share trading.
